A comfortable four-and-a-half miles from ASU, Cypress Commons apartment homes make commuting to campus a breeze. The apartments are directly east of the university along Rio Salado Parkway. The parkway’s often the best route to take to campus because it doesn’t usually experience heavy morning traffic congestion. Karsten Golf Course and Packard Baseball Stadium at the northeast end of campus are the campus sites you’ll reach first. You can also use Loop 202 to reach campus, but you run the risk of encountering heavy rush hour traffic.
If you’d rather let someone else do the driving, Valley Metro’s transit system is an option for your commute. You can catch a light rail train by walking about 20 minutes to the Country Club/Main Street station. You’ll ride the train 17 minutes to the University and Rural Road station to access the center of campus and buildings on its eastern side. If your destination is on the west or north sides of campus, you can ride the train a few minutes more to disembark at Veteran’s Way and College Avenue station. Sites near this station include Wells Fargo Arena and Sun Devil Stadium.
Biking to the university is another terrific option. Riding your bike along Rio Salado Parkway gets you to Karsten Golf Course in about 23 minutes. A few more minutes of biking takes you to the Packard Baseball Stadium and its adjacent lot where you can catch a free ASU FLASH shuttle to other areas of campus.
At Cypress Commons, you’re next door to an AutoZone parts store and across the street from a Speedy Food and Gas station. You’ll also find numerous stores and restaurants along Rio Salado Parkway. To the west are Circle K, a car wash and several schools. A few miles beyond those sites is the expansive Tempe Marketplace, offering stores like Target, Office Max, Home Depot and World Market. The shopping center is also home to restaurants such as Dave & Buster’s, Greek Pita and Lucille’s Smokehouse.
