Three miles south of the ASU campus, Lakeview At The Bay apartments are conveniently located just south of the Superstition Freeway on East Baseline Road. The apartments are also just east of Interstate 10. To get to campus, though, you’re better off using surface streets. Driving to the southern area of campus near sites like the Sun Devil Fitness Complex and the Bike Co-Op takes just 10 to 15 minutes, depending on traffic. The Apache Parking Structure is next to the fitness complex.
Cycling is equally convenient and significantly cheaper than driving when you factor in parking costs. The quickest cycling route is to wind your way through residential streets toward Palmer Park and use the adjacent Superstition Freeway pedestrian overpass to connect to College Avenue. From there, it’s a straight line to campus. The bicycle trip usually takes about 20 minutes.
If you’re looking for fast and cheap, public transit’s the way to go. Route 72 buses take you to campus in just 13 minutes. You can catch the 72 bus at Stop #14677 at Baseline and South Rural roads; it’s a four-minute walk northwest from the apartments. You can hop off at the corner of Rural and Apache for the southeast area of campus or continue on to Tyler Street near the light rail station. The bus eventually travels to downtown and Tempe Transportation Center for other convenient transfers.
Just about every conceivable convenience is near Lakeview At The Bay. Whole Foods is .3 miles north of the complex, Wells Fargo is practically next door and Bank of America is just across the street. Lake Country Shopping Village is across Baseline, offering Big Lots, Firestone Auto Care, Wendy’s, Church’s Chicken and Arizona Bank & Trust. Lowe’s, some fast food restaurants, Starbuck’s and Circle K are just west of the apartments across Rural Road. Fry’s, Target, O’Reilly Auto Parts and RadioShack are about a mile east. Several dental and medical offices are located east of the apartments along Baseline and south along McClintock.
