The Stone Oaks Apartments are positioned just over 11 miles southeast of the Arizona State University campus in Tempe. This location is just north of the AZ-202 Loop, but it also offers easy access to US-60, I-10 and the AZ-101 Loop. With a commute time of approximately 30 minutes to downtown Phoenix and less than 20 minutes to the eastern edge of the ASU campus without traffic, this is a convenient location for residents interested in exploring Tempe, Phoenix and the surrounding cities for work and play.

To reach the university, take the 101 Loop north to exit 52. Go west on University Drive until you arrive at the eastern edge of campus. This entrance is convenient when driving to the Wells Fargo Arena for a concert or the Sun Devil Stadium for a football game. If you go south from University, you can reach most of the academic and administrative buildings as well.

Do you prefer to enter campus from the south? You can exit the 101 Loop at Elliot Road, taking Elliot west to Rural Road. Going north on Rural will take you right into campus. If you venture into north campus, Rural will turn into Scottsdale before crossing Tempe Town Lake. This region north of campus is known for its mountainous recreational areas, golf courses and attractions like the Phoenix Zoo.

Transportation

While you can bike to the ASU campus from the Stone Oaks Apartments in approximately one hour, you will likely need a car to commute from this location. You also have the option of using the Valley Metro bus and light rail system to reach campus, but the trip can take 60-90 minutes each way.

The closest bus stop is located near Dobson Road and Fairview, which is about half a mile from the apartment complex. Take a route 96 bus headed north on Dobson toward Mesa Riverview, exiting at the Mall Entrance stop. Walk to the corner of Main Street and Sycamore to board a light rail train headed west toward 19th Avenue and Dunlap. Get off at the Veterans Way and College Avenue station, which is on the western edge of campus.

If you don’t want to transfer to the light rail and don’t mind walking about 30 minutes, you can catch a route 72 bus at the Chandler Fashion Center Transit Center. Get on the northbound bus heading toward Thompson Peak and ride directly to the campus transit center.
