Located four blocks from Santan Freeway/Loop 202, Sunshine Valley apartments are convenient to many of the area’s most important sites. While you’re 14.5 miles from ASU’s campus and downtown Tempe, you can drive to either site in less than 20 minutes. Surface streets can get you to the university, but nearby freeways often offer the quickest routes. The most efficient path to campus leads you west on the Santan Freeway and north on Loop 101, exiting at University Drive. Traffic can get congested during the morning commute hours, potentially increasing your morning drive time to as much as 35 minutes.
If you don’t want the hassle or cost of driving yourself to ASU, the efficient Valley Metro system offers you an excellent alternative. To access most areas of campus, you can take a 30-minute ride on the LINK bus north to Mesa’s Country Club and Main light rail station. There, you can hop on a train for a 17-minute ride to the campus-adjacent University Drive/Rural Road light rail station. If you need to go to northwestern regions of campus and sites like Sun Devil Stadium, you can continue on the train for another two minutes to the station at Veteran’s Way and College Avenue. For other parts of campus, you can use a combination of the LINK buses and other metro buses, or you can use the LINK/light rail system and ASU’s convenient and free campus shuttles.
Another advantage of living so close to the Santan Freeway is access to a large number of shops and restaurants along the highway. At Sunshine Valley, you’re about four city blocks south of Starbuck’s, Kohl’s, WinCo Foods, Planet Fitness, Porkopolis BBQ and Sam’s Club. Another block north, across the freeway, you’ll find more conveniences, from Chase Bank and Walmart to nail salons and fast food joints. There’s a self-storage facility two blocks east of the apartments, and the amenity-filled Ryan Park just about six blocks southwest.
