Machines or Just Connections?
The first thing that you have to ask is whether the apartment offers washer and dryer connections or the actual machines. If only the connections are available, you will have to purchase your own washer and dryer. If the unit comes with the washer and dryer, this doesn’t mean that they’re new machines. You should ask if the apartment maintenance staff will repair the machines if there are problems, especially if you can tell that the machines in your unit are old.
Note that running a washer and dryer may significantly raise your power bill. You can purchase energy-efficient machines if you bring your own, but you won’t have a choice if the machines are supplied by your landlord.
Washer & Dryer Sizes
A larger laundry room may give you the space for oversized machines that accommodate large loads of laundry, but that isn’t offered in many apartment buildings. You may have to settle for standard or compact-sized machines, and space is often conserved by using stacked machines.
Placement within the Apartment
One more thing to consider when searching for Tempe apartments with washer and dryer access is the location of the machines within your living space. A dedicated laundry room is best, but some small apartments place these machines in the kitchen, at the end of a hallway or within other rooms. Think about the proximity of the machines to your sleeping area, especially if the unit features older machines that are noisy when operating.
