Convenient to ASU but well-removed from the usual campus hubbub, Alcove at the Islands is near several helpful local highways. About 12 miles southeast of ASU, you can easily drive to the campus in 20 to 40 minutes. The quickest route is to head west on Warner Road to 101 Loop North. Merge onto the westbound lanes of the Superstition Freeway and hop off at South Rural Road. South Rural leads you directly north to the campus. You can also head north on McQueen Road/South Mesa Road and head west on the Superstition Freeway. Again, you’ll exit at South Rural Road and head north.
If you prefer riding public transportation, walk to the intersection of Elliot Road and Ocean Drive to take Bus Route 108. If you’re heading to the western side of campus to sites like the Gammage Memorial Auditorium and ASU’s College of Design, you’ll transfer from Bus Route 108 to Bus Route 66 at Kyrene and Elliot. If your destination is on the eastern side of campus, you can transfer from Bus Route 108 after a short four-minute ride to Bus Route 112 at Arizona Ave. and Elliot Road. It’s a 20-minute bus ride to the Country Club and Main Street Light Rail Station where you’ll hop on a westbound train. Seven stops later, you’re at the central ASU station, University and Rural. The total trip, from bus 108 and 112 to the train stop near ASU, takes an hour and 24 minutes.
There’s no shortage of conveniences near Alcove at the Islands. Just a half-mile to the east are several stores, fast food joints and restaurants, including Fry’s Food and Drug, Taco Bell, Rubio’s, Walgreens and AutoZone. Less than a half-mile to the west takes you to more helpful stores such as CVS, Mobil gas, independent clothing stores, a salon and a dentist’s office. You’ll even have quick access to plenty of recreation; Jumpstreet, Espee Park and Stonegate Park are all less than a mile away.
