Indigo Palms Apartments
The Indigo Palms Apartments may have a Phoenix address, but they’re convenient to residents studying or working at the Arizona State University campus in Tempe. They’re positioned just over six miles to the northwest of campus, so the commute by car is less than 10 minutes without traffic.
The fastest route is on the AZ-202 loop headed eastbound. From the apartment complex, go east on McDowell Road and turn right onto North 44th Street. After you merge onto the loop, drive for four miles and then take the Scottsdale Road exit. This road will take you across Tempe Town Lake and into the northern region of campus. This is the section of campus that contains the band and sports practice fields as well as all sports stadiums and the Wells Fargo Arena.
Once you pass over East Rio Salado Parkway, Scottsdale will turn into Rural Road. You can turn off on any side street to reach your final campus destination. You may also want to explore other areas of Tempe by following Rural beyond campus boundaries to the south or turning on University Drive and heading east or west of the university.
This area of Phoenix is easy to travel by car, but you also have the option of using the Valley Metro bus and light rail system. The closest light rail station is almost two miles away from the apartment complex, and it can take up to an hour to reach the edge of the ASU campus if you take the train.
To take a bus to the university, walk a few minutes to the stop near 38th Street and McDowell. Take a route 17 bus headed east toward Pima, and get off at the Scottsdale Road exit. Board a route 72 bus headed south on Scottsdale, and then exit at the stop most appropriate to your final campus destination.
If you want to explore the area immediately surrounding the apartment complex, there are buses heading east and west on McDowell Road. You can also connect to buses on most roads running north and south, giving you access to most places in Phoenix and Tempe.
The Indigo Palms Apartments are just over a mile north of the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and less than a mile from the Red Mountain Freeway. They’re also convenient to many schools for younger children, including the Gateway School, Balsz Elementary and Griffith Elementary. There are several small parks and shopping centers close by as well as a variety of restaurants.
