Transportation
Three miles directly south of ASU, San Marquis apartments are close to major local freeways, Tempe attractions and a world-class university. If you’re commuting to ASU, the drive will take you a little less than 10 minutes during low-traffic hours. During peak commute times, the drive may take as long as 16 minutes. Driving east on Baseline Road and heading north on South Rural Road to the southeast corner of campus is probably the most reliable route. You can also head west on Baseline and north on South Mill Avenue to drive to ASU’s southwest corner.
Cycling is a popular commute option, and the ride generally takes 15 to 20 minutes to ASU. The most convenient route is to head west on Baseline for one block and then north on South College Avenue. You’ll access the Superstition Freeway pedestrian/bike overcrossing by edging around Palmer Park. Once you’re across the freeway, it’s a straight route to campus.
Valley Metro buses give you several public transit options to ASU, including Routes 72 and 66. Route 72 is the quickest, delivering you to ASU’s southeastern area and sites like Adelphi Commons in about 13 minutes. You can catch Route 72 buses at Rural and Baseline Roads, a six-minute walk from the apartments. For Route 66 buses, walk a half-mile west to Baseline and Kyrene. It’s a 13-minute ride to the southwestern edge of campus near Gammage Auditorium, and a few minutes longer to access central and northwestern areas of campus.
Things Nearby
Everyday staples are easy to come by with San Marquis’ convenient location. Whole Foods is two blocks north of the apartments, and Fry’s Marketplace is just a mile-and-a-half down Baseline Road. Target and Valley Ace Hardware are across the street from Fry’s. Lowe’s Home Improvement is directly behind the apartment complex, and several eateries are a block west. Arizona Mills is two miles west along Baseline, offering nearly 170 stores and restaurants as well as a 25-theater multiplex cinema with IMAX and the Sea Life Aquarium.
