About Scottsdale Springs

Scottsdale Springs

If you want to live within a reasonable commute of the Arizona State University Tempe campus while remaining close to Phoenix and a variety of fun outdoor recreational areas, you may want to consider taking up residence at Scottsdale Springs. This apartment community rests approximately five miles north of the Tempe campus and 12 miles east of downtown Phoenix, so you can reach either destination in well under 30 minutes without traffic.

The most direct route to the ASU campus is along North Hayden Road. Go south until Hayden turns into McClintock Drive, and then make a right turn on University. You’ll enter campus on the eastern border, which is convenient to the sports and aquatics complexes in the north as well as the academic buildings and administrative offices positioned further south on campus.

If you’re heading to an event at the Wells Fargo Arena or a ball game, you may want to get on the AZ-101 Loop headed south from East Thomas Road, merging onto the AZ-202 Loop going west. Get off at Scottsdale Avenue and travel south until you cross Tempe Town Lake and enter the northern edge of campus. Scottsdale will turn into Rural Road after you pass Rio Salado Parkway, so you can also use this route to reach the southern campus facilities.

It can take up to 90 minutes to walk to the ASU campus from Scottsdale Springs, and the bike ride can take up to 30 minutes. If you don’t have private transportation, you may consider riding the Valley Metro bus.

You can walk to the bus stop near the intersection of Hayden Road and Osborn Road in less than 10 minutes. The route 81 bus heading north on Hayden will take you to Rio Salado Parkway eastbound and South McClintock, where you will catch a route 62 bus headed west into campus. If you want to walk a little more in order to eliminate the need to transfer buses, walk just over half a mile to the corner of Scottsdale Road and Osborn Road. Take a route 72 bus headed south on Scottsdale for a straight ride into the heart of campus.
