Transportation
The Fairways apartments are 12.5 miles from ASU and downtown Tempe, making for a quick 20-minute commute to the university by car. The quickest driving route follows Price Freeway/Loop 101 north, exiting at University Drive. University Drive bisects ASU, and you’ll have access to most of the campus from University Drive. Morning and evening rush hours can slow the commute, sometimes lengthening it to 35 minutes.
The region’s efficient public transportation system offers a few advantages over commuting by car. You’ll avoid the stress of driving and the high cost of on-campus parking, but at 56 minutes, riding public transportation significantly increases your commute time. The quickest transit route begins with a short three-and-a-half-block walk to the Route 104 bus stop at Alma School Road and Chandler Boulevard. You’ll ride the northbound 104 bus for 34 minutes to the stop at Alma School Road and Main Street where you’ll pick up a westbound light rail train. The train ride to University Drive and Rural Road takes another 14 minutes and drops you near ASU buildings on the eastern and central portions of campus. If you need to access northern buildings on campus, stay on the train another two minutes to disembark at the Veteran’s Way and College Avenue light rail station. There, you’ll be steps from Desert Arboretum Park and Sun Devil Stadium.
