Close to Loop 202, the Piestewa Freeway, Interstate 10 and Loop 101, transportation to and from the Tidewood Apartments is convenient. If you’re heading to the nearby ASU campus in Tempe, you can make the drive in approximately 17 minutes. Loop 202 to the Scottsdale Road exit is a good route to use on your way to campus, and even morning rush hour traffic on the freeway only increases the commute time by about five minutes. The apartments are a little less than nine miles northwest of campus.
If you enjoy biking, you can also cycle to the university. The trek takes 40 to 45 minutes, and you will encounter some elevation changes along the way. The most moderate climbs and descents are found on the route which takes you south on N. 40th, east on Osborn, south on N. 48th and east on E. Washington. From Washington, you’ll head south on N. Mill Avenue which leads you to the northwest corner of campus and near sites such as Sun Devil Stadium and Brickyard Engineering.
Buses and light rail trains offer service from Phoenix to ASU’s Tempe campus, making the one-way trip in about an hour. The quickest route is a bus/train combination, taking you west on Bus Route 41 to the light rail station at Indian School and Central. There, you’ll catch a train that delivers you to the northwestern area of campus in 40 minutes. To avoid the initial bus ride, you can also drive or ride your bike to the closest light rail station 3.6 miles away at 44th Street and Washington. From there, it’s a 12- to 15-minute train ride to campus.
A variety of stores and restaurants are just north of the Tidewood Apartments on Indian School Road. There, you’ll find Starbucks, Safeway, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Pete’s Fish and Chips, The Attic and Wildflower Bread Company. Adobe Dental Center, Los Cerritos Mexican Food and Little Shanghai are adjacent to the apartments, and Palm Grove Shopping Center is just across the street.
