Transportation
Village at Lakewood apartments are located near the Interstate 10 and Santan Freeway interchange, so getting around the area is very convenient. Commuting to ASU 13 miles away is fairly simple but requires some planning. By car, the commute to the university can be made in 20 to 35 minutes in light traffic using Interstate 10. During heavy traffic periods such as the morning rush hour, though, the commute can be as long as an hour on Interstate 10.
If you’ll be traveling to ASU during that morning commute time, you’re better off using public transportation. While you’ll still spend about an hour on the commute, you’ll have the freedom to spend your time more productively while someone else navigates traffic. During rush hour, the best public transit option begins with a short ride on the free ALEX neighborhood shuttle to the Route 56 bus stop at Ray Road and 48th Street. You’ll ride the 56 bus for 37 minutes and transfer to a light rail train at Priest Drive and Washington. The light rail train stops near the university’s psychology building and Noble Science Library, then it stops near Plummer Aquatic Complex and Sun Devil Stadium. This route takes an hour and 32 minutes. At other times during the day, a combination of the Alex neighborhood shuttle and Bus Routes 108 and 65 can deliver you to campus in an hour and 11 minutes.
